Central Unit Easter Camp @ Downe

The Central unit recently spent Easter weekend at the Downe Scout Campsite and were joined by the Low Weald unit. A fantastic weekend was had by all who attended even though the rain didn't stop and the mud got deeper and deeper! Both units got on so well Low Weald are planning on joining the Central Unit for their Summer Camp in August.

Old Man of Coniston 2006

Four leaders from Tonbridge District joined 40 other leaders and Explorer Scouts from across the county for a weekend winter hillwalking. During the weekend all summited The Old Man of Coniston (803m) complete with snow. Experiences included use of crampons, micro-navigation and a Ghyll walk (Grade 1 scramble). Thanks to the IMC for a great weekend. Hope to see more from Tonbridge next year!

Band members' achievements recognised at 'Encore'

Tonbridge Explorer Scouts earned high praise at the 17th Tonbridge Scout & Guide Band's annual review and show - 'Encore' and took home many of the awards and prizes available - special mention must go to Daniel, Alex and Sophie - and to Matthew for getting the covetted 'Band Member of the Year' award along with 3 other awards as well - well done to you all - a great achievement and a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Christmas Car Parking, Success

A big thank you to all the public who supported us over the festive season by choosing to park with us. The central unit ran a charity car park at the Tunbridge Wells Childrens Mutual building on St Johns Road. The unit raised a great deal of money to help grow the unit and support those members involved in the 2007 jamboree

Once again a team from the Central Unit walked away with the 'Exploit' Trophy at this years annual Founder competition. Congratulations to 'the poles' team for a tremendous result!

Central Unit put Tonbridge on County map with Monopoly Run victory

A team of 6 Tonbridge Explorer Scouts from the Central Unit returned victorious from their race around London for the County's 2004 Monopoly Run event. Inspite of problems on the Underground, the Tonbridge team beat the competition in the form of teams from across the County to win the first Kent Monopoly Run. When the photos are returned they'll be here for all to see. Well done team!

Central Tonbridge Explorers meet Graham Norton - nearly!

A group of Explorers, friends and leaders from the Central Tonbridge Unit spent an evening at BBC TV Centre in the audience for a pilot of Graham Norton's new Saturday evening show - coming to a TV near you in the autumn. Graham was on top form and there were plenty of laughs to be had. Everyone seeemd to enjoy themselves, and there was much talk of other outings we could run - if you've got any ideas please let Tom know.

Founder 2004 Results

The 'Exploit' Trophy was this year won once again by a team from the Central Unit. Congratulations to 'The Poles' team who rolled in with 173 points! 2nd Place was awarded to the 12th Tonbridge Rangers ‘Dead Ants’ team with 82 points. Third place came the 14th Tonbridge Sea Scouts with 28 and half points. Well done to everyone who took part! Check out the photos in the gallery.
